What is the CrossFit Open?
The CrossFit Open is a global, three-week event where the entire CrossFit community comes together to complete one workout per week. Each workout is released on the CrossFit Games website every Thursday at 12 p.m. Pacific Time (that’s Thursday evening for us in the UK!). Participants have until Monday at 5 p.m. PT to complete the workout and submit their scores online if they’ve officially registered.
At the end of each week, you can view your ranking on the worldwide CrossFit Games Leaderboard, broken down by age group, division, and more. It’s an exciting way to see how you compare to CrossFitters worldwide!
Who Can Participate?
The Open is for everyone, regardless of your fitness level. Just like our regular classes, every workout can be scaled to your abilities, and our coaches are here to guide you.

- It’s not about beating others—it’s about challenging yourself, pushing your limits, and seeing how far you’ve come.

How Does CrossFit Structure Get Involved?
At CrossFit Structure, we make the Open even more exciting by running our own Intramural Competition! Here’s how it works:
- Team Drafts: We’ll appoint 3–4 team captains, every member of the gym will then be randomly drafted into these teams. The teams will be Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue.
- Balanced Teams: To keep things fair, the top three scoring men and women in the gym will be evenly distributed across the teams.
- Theme: I will be setting a theme for the week; for example cowboys & indians. I will announced all the themes in the coming weeks!
Important Dates:
- Teams will be announced by 25th January.
- Each week’s Open workout will be the WOD on Friday mornings, but the real magic happens during Friday Night Lights!
What is Friday Night Lights?
Friday Night Lights is the highlight of the Open at CrossFit Structure! Here’s what you need to know:
- Every Friday evening, starting at 5 p.m., we’ll complete the Open workout in heats.
- It’s an electric atmosphere with teams cheering each other on—it’s CrossFit at its most fun and inspiring!
- Even if you’re not competing, come along to support your team and enjoy the camaraderie.
To wrap up the Open, we’ll host a 4th Friday Night Lights event on 21st March. This will be a Bring a Friend Night with opportunities for massive team points!
How to Earn Points for Your Team
Here’s how teams can score points in our Intramural Competition:
- Attendance: 1 point for every team member who shows up to Friday Night Lights (even just to cheer!).
- Top Scores: 3 points for the top 3 men and women in the gym each week.
- Team Spirit: 5 points for the team that goes all out and earns Spirit of the Week.
- Bring a Friend Night: 5 points for every friend you bring to the event on 21st March, plus an extra 5 points if your friend books a No Sweat Intro that evening!
